    J. Cole’s “Might Delete Later” Album Debuts at No. 1 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart

    J. Cole’s surprise album, “Might Delete Later,” has skyrocketed to the top of the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, with the track “7 Minute Drill” leading the pack. Released unexpectedly on April 5, the album earned an impressive 115,000 equivalent album units in the tracking week of April 5-11, securing its position at the top of the chart.

According to Billboard, the album’s success was largely driven by streams, which accounted for 105,000 units. Traditional album sales contributed 9,000 units, while track sales added a modest 1,000 units. “7 Minute Drill” emerged as the most-streamed and top-selling song from the project.

With this achievement, J. Cole has now clinched his seventh No. 1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, adding to his impressive discography of chart-topping albums like “Cole World: The Sideline Story” and “2014 Forest Hills Drive.”

However, J. Cole’s reign was recently interrupted by Beyoncé’s country album, “Cowboy Carter,” which topped the Billboard 200 chart for a second consecutive week. Despite falling to the second spot, “Might Delete Later” still managed to debut strongly with 115,000 equivalent units in its first week.

While all 12 songs from “Might Delete Later” made it onto the Billboard Hot 100 chart, the standout track “7 Minute Drill” debuted at an impressive No. 6. Unfortunately, the song has since been removed from streaming platforms following Cole’s controversial apology to Kendrick Lamar.

    J. Cole’s collaboration with Beyoncé on the remix of “Party” in 2011 further solidifies their connection in the music industry, with the music video amassing over 111 million views on YouTube to date.
