Kanye West Accused of Discriminating Against Black Employees in New Lawsuit
Kanye West is facing serious allegations in a new lawsuit filed by a former employee, Benjamin Deshon Provo, who claims that the rapper discriminated against Black employees at his Donda Academy. The lawsuit, filed in the Los Angeles Superior Court, accuses West and his management team of subjecting Black employees to unfair treatment compared to their white counterparts.
Provo alleges that West frequently screamed at and berated Black employees, while showing favoritism towards white staff. He also claims that West ridiculed Black employees for wearing locs, even though it was part of Provo’s Muslim faith. Provo was allegedly forced to choose between his self-identity and financial stability when West demanded he cut his hair or be fired.
In addition to these claims, Provo also alleged that West banned books from prominent Black leaders and made derogatory comments about gay people, Jews, and Hitler. Another former employee, Trevor Phillips, has also filed a lawsuit against West, making similar allegations of discrimination and harassment.
The lawsuit details disturbing incidents, including West’s alleged attempt to install a jail at the school to “cage” students and his preference for white employees. Phillips’ attorney stated that they hope the lawsuit will vindicate their clients’ rights and send a message to West that discrimination and hateful messages have no place in the world.
As of now, it is unclear how much West is being sued for, as his representatives have not responded to requests for comment. The lawsuit sheds light on troubling allegations against the rapper and raises questions about his treatment of employees at the Donda Academy.
