“Live Nation Urban and When We All Vote Partner to Bring Voter Registration to Roots Picnic 2024”
Live Nation Urban and When We All Vote are teaming up to bring voter registration to this year’s Roots Picnic, a two-day festival curated by The Roots in Philadelphia. The partnership aims to engage eligible Black voters between the ages of 21 and 35, with a focus on underrepresented communities in the political process.
When We All Vote will be on-site at The Mann in Fairmount Park on June 1-2, 2024, registering voters and encouraging festival-goers to exercise their right to vote. The collaboration follows a successful partnership in 2020, where over 35,000 individuals started or completed the voter registration process.
Beth Lynk, Executive Director of When We All Vote, emphasized the importance of bringing voting to the culture, stating, “If you’re showing up at Roots Picnic, we want to ensure you’re showing up at the ballot box.” The initiative aligns with the organization’s goal to close the race and age voting gaps, with support from Michelle Obama, Founder and Co-Chair of When We All Vote.
The Roots Picnic lineup features a diverse range of artists, including headliners Lil Wayne, Jill Scott, and André 3000, as well as Nas, Tyla, and Smino. This collaboration highlights the significance of nonpartisan efforts like When We All Vote, especially as fewer young people identify with political parties.
Through voter registration, mobilization, and cultural engagement, When We All Vote aims to ensure every voice is heard in shaping the future of democracy. The Roots Picnic serves as a platform to not only enjoy music but also to participate in the democratic process and make a difference in the community.
