Metro Boomin Takes Credit for Reenergizing Hip Hop Genre
Metro Boomin Claims Credit for Hip Hop’s Recent Success, Teases New Projects
Super-producer Metro Boomin has taken to Instagram to assert his role in reenergizing the Hip Hop genre, suggesting that he is the driving force behind its recent hot streak.
In a series of posts on Thursday (May 3), Metro Boomin shared photos of himself in the studio and a picture of a jacket emblazoned with the words “WE DON’T TRUST YOU,” hinting at his dedication to creating the next big hit.
“HIP-HOP IS ALIVE AND WELL,” he confidently declared in the caption of the post.
Metro Boomin’s confidence is backed by the success of his recent projects, including collaborations with Future on the “We Don’t Trust You” collection. Additionally, he has partnered with The Alchemist and NBA star Kevin Durant to design a line of sneakers for Nike.
The KD 17 “Metro Boomin” shoe pays homage to the producer’s album “Heroes & Villains” with a vibrant purple-and-blue design, featuring personal touches like a signature honoring his late mother. The Alchemist’s KD 17 “The Alchemist” shoe showcases his ALC Records logo and a unique colorway inspired by his style.
These sneakers are part of Durant’s “Producer Series,” which celebrates the music producers behind the scenes of Hip Hop culture. The Nike KD 17 will be available on May 17, with the “Producer Series” styles to follow in the coming months.
While Metro Boomin and Kevin Durant are making waves in the music and fashion industries, Durant faced backlash earlier this year for naming Drake’s “Certified Lover Boy” as his favorite album of all time. Despite the criticism, both artists continue to push boundaries and make their mark on the Hip Hop world.
