Grambling State Women’s Basketball to Face LSU at Brookshire Grocery Arena on Dec. 8

Grambling State women’s basketball team is set to face off against LSU at Brookshire Grocery Arena on Dec. 8 in a highly anticipated matchup. The announcement was made by Russ Potts Productions Inc., in collaboration with Brookshire Grocery Arena and the Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission.

This game marks the fifth meeting between the two teams, with LSU currently leading the series 4-0. Grambling State, under the leadership of second-year head coach Courtney Simmons, is coming off a successful 2023-24 season with a 23-10 overall record and a 15-3 mark in the Southwestern Athletic Conference. The Tigers had a standout season, surpassing 20 wins for the first time since 2002-03 and making it to the SWAC semifinals.

The matchup also holds special significance for GSU player Kahia Warmsley, a Shreveport native and Mansfield High graduate, who will be playing in front of her hometown crowd. Last season, Warmsley led the team in scoring, averaging 10.1 points per game.

LSU, led by head coach Kim Mulkey, is coming off a successful season that saw them reach the NCAA Elite Eight with a 31-6 record. The neutral site of Brookshire Grocery Arena is expected to draw fans from both teams, creating a vibrant game atmosphere.

“We are thrilled to welcome the Tigers from LSU and Grambling to meet up for an in-state clash at Brookshire Grocery Arena,” said Zach Franz, president of Russ Potts Productions Inc. Sara Nelms, director of sports for the Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission, also expressed excitement for the event, highlighting the opportunity for the community to come together and support women’s sports.
