Celebrating the 91st Birthday of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan

The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, a prominent figure in Black America, celebrates his 91st birthday today. Born Louis Eugene Walcott in 1933, Farrakhan has had a remarkable journey from being a talented violinist to becoming a respected leader in the Nation of Islam.

Farrakhan’s musical career took a backseat when he joined the Nation of Islam in 1955 and was given the name Louis X, later changed to Farrakhan by Elijah Muhammad. He worked closely with Malcolm X until his assassination in 1965, after which Farrakhan took on prominent roles within the organization.

In a 2000 interview with 60 Minutes, Farrakhan expressed regret for his past words that may have contributed to Malcolm X’s assassination. Despite this, he continued to be a strong voice for justice and unity within the Black community.

In the 1980s, Farrakhan founded The Final Call newspaper and has since been a respected figure in the Hip Hop community, with several artists referencing him in their music. He has also been called upon to mediate disputes within the industry.

As Farrakhan celebrates his 91st birthday, he remains a symbol of resilience and leadership in the Black community. The Source Magazine/Northstar Group extends warm wishes to the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan on his special day and looks forward to many more years of his impactful presence.
