We kick off the series with the CIAA, featuring standout players who have left their mark on the conference. From Bluefield State’s linebacker TJ Gunter to Bowie State’s legendary quarterback Amir Hall, these players have showcased their talents on the field.

Gunter, despite missing two games due to injury, made a significant impact on the Big Blue’s defense, earning a spot on the All-CIAA Second Team. Hall, on the other hand, set CIAA records in passing yards and touchdowns, solidifying his place as one of the best quarterbacks in HBCU football history.

Other notable players include Elizabeth City State’s running back Daronte McNeill, Fayetteville State’s defensive back Joshua Williams, and Johnson C. Smith’s ball-hawking defensive back Carlo Thomas.

The series also highlights standout performances from players like Lincoln (PA) Lions’ quarterback Isaiah Freeman, Livingstone Blue Bears’ dual-threat quarterback Drew Powell, and Shaw Bears’ versatile player Darnell Evans.

As we look forward to the upcoming HBCU football season, let’s celebrate the incredible talent and unforgettable moments that have graced the CIAA conference since 2010. Stay tuned for more highlights from other conferences in the coming weeks.
