Former Black US Marine in New Jersey Faces Federal Charges for Threatening to Kill White People
A former Black US Marine in New Jersey, 23-year-old Joshua Cobb, is facing serious federal charges after making threatening posts on social media. Cobb was arrested and charged with one count of transmitting a threat in interstate and foreign commerce, which could lead to up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
The United States Attorney’s Office revealed that Cobb openly discussed his desire to kill “all” white people on social media and even expressed his aspirations of becoming a serial killer. In a disturbing post from December 2022, Cobb detailed his plans to target white people in New Jersey, stating that he had already acquired firearms and chosen a location for his attack.
Despite being set to begin basic training in June 2023, Cobb’s recent arrest and charges have led to his discharge from the Marine Corps. He admitted to law enforcement that he wrote all the threatening posts found on social media and even shared potential targets for a mass shooting.
The case of Joshua Cobb serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of sharing violent thoughts and intentions on social media. It highlights the importance of monitoring online behavior and taking threats seriously to prevent potential harm to others.
