Lauryn Hill’s Son Hints at Her Working on New Album
Fugees legend Lauryn Hill may be gearing up to release a new album, according to hints dropped by her son YG Marley. The iconic singer, who hasn’t released a full-length project since her groundbreaking 1998 solo debut, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, seemed to confirm the news when approached by TMZ.
During a recent encounter with paparazzi, a TMZ reporter mentioned that Marley had suggested new music was on the way from his mother. Hill simply nodded in response, fueling speculation that fans could soon be treated to fresh material from the Grammy-winning artist.
Hill and Marley recently made a joint appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where they delivered an electrifying medley of songs. The performance featured Hill’s classic hit “Ex-Factor” as well as tracks from Marley’s own catalog, backed by a live band.
The mother-son duo also surprised fans at Coachella, where Hill joined Marley on stage alongside Fugees bandmate Wyclef Jean. The trio delighted the audience with renditions of both Hill’s solo hits and Fugees classics, including “Killing Me Softly” and “Ready or Not.”
In addition to the exciting prospect of new music, Hill’s iconic album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, is set to be inducted into the Grammys Hall of Fame next week. The ceremony, scheduled for May 21 in Los Angeles, may offer fans a rare opportunity to see the elusive artist in person.
