Pressure Grows to Revoke Diddy’s Key to New York City, Nas Eyed as Replacement
Nas Eyed as Diddy Replacement as Pressure Grows to Revoke Key to New York City
New York City council members are pushing for Mayor Eric Adams to revoke Diddy’s honorary key to the city following the emergence of CCTV footage showing the music mogul assaulting his ex-girlfriend Cassie.
Sandy Nurse, a council member, stated, “Mayor Adams should immediately revoke Diddy’s key to the city. As an abuser, Diddy lost his right to have such an honor and should be held accountable for his actions.”
Fellow council member Shaun Abreu added, “Mayor Adams should snatch back Diddy’s key and slam the door behind him. We won’t be missing you.”
In response to the controversy, council member Justin Brannan suggested Nas as a replacement for Diddy, praising the Queensbridge rapper as the “G.O.A.T.”
Diddy received the key to the city just last September, but Mayor Adams has expressed willingness to consider revoking it in light of the assault footage.
The CCTV video shows Diddy violently attacking Cassie in a hotel corridor in 2016, sparking outrage and calls for accountability.
Diddy has since issued an apology for his actions in the video, acknowledging his behavior as “inexcusable” and expressing a commitment to personal growth.
The situation remains under review as Mayor Adams and his team deliberate on the appropriate course of action regarding Diddy’s honorary key to New York City.
