Russell Simmons Addresses Residency in Bali and Recent Lawsuits

Russell Simmons is making headlines once again, this time addressing his residency in Bali and a recent lawsuit served to him while at a resort on the island. In an interview with AllHipHop, Simmons clarified that he is not hiding out and is freely welcomed in the United States, despite rumors suggesting otherwise.

The Def Jam mogul revealed that he does not own any property in the United States and has no intention of living in New York City again, opting for Bali instead. However, Simmons stated that he is frequently in Los Angeles, New York, and Miami and has never felt unsafe in America.

In March, Simmons was served with a lawsuit from Drew Dixon, accusing him of defamation. Dixon alleges that Simmons called her a “liar” and claimed her accusations of sexual assault were for fame, damaging her professional career. The lawsuit was served by a process server named Daniel John Ayoub at a Bali resort, where Simmons was spotted at a restaurant.

The lawsuit from Dixon is not the first of its kind for Simmons, as he was also recently accused of rape by a former Def Jam employee in New York City federal court. The woman, identified as Jane Doe, alleges that Simmons obstructed her career and engaged in violent behavior, leading to a rape incident at his home during a music video work session.

The unidentified woman is seeking monetary damages as a result of the trial, stating that Simmons’ actions have impacted her financial viability and caused her to suffer panic attacks. Simmons has yet to publicly address the recent allegations but continues to maintain his innocence in all legal matters.
