Cam’ron’s Journey from Rap to Podcasting: How a $120k Investment Turned into a $20m Deal
Cam’ron, the legendary rapper and now successful sports media personality, recently shared the story behind his journey from rap to podcasting at Black Enterprise’s 2024 Disruptor Summit. The Dipset MC reflected on how he kickstarted his podcast, It Is What It Is, in 2023.
Initially starting with just a few episodes by himself, Cam’ron eventually invited Ma$e to be a guest on the show. Impressed by the podcast, Ma$e proposed going half on the venture, leading to a successful partnership. As the podcast gained traction, offers started pouring in, eventually culminating in a $20 million deal after 35 episodes.
Aside from their successful podcasting venture, Cam’ron and Ma$e also have a musical history together. Cam’ron revealed that the duo has recorded an entire album, but Ma$e has decided not to release it. Despite this, Cam’ron praised Ma$e’s unreleased music, calling it “real good” and expressing his desire to share it with the world.
The 48-year-old MC also mentioned that Ma$e has a vault of unreleased music, hinting at the quality of the songs. Despite not being able to release their collaborative album, Cam’ron remains supportive of Ma$e’s decisions and continues to enjoy the music they have created together.
