Young Entrepreneur Quentin Hines Jr. Turns Passion for Lawn Care into Successful Business
Eleven-year-old Quentin Hines Jr. from North Carolina is not your average kid – he loves mowing lawns. What started as a chore he took over from his father at the age of eight has now turned into a thriving business, QJ’s Professional Lawn Care.
Quentin’s passion for mowing lawns began when he used to watch the landscapers at Charlotte Douglas International Airport work their magic. He was fascinated by the precision and skill involved in cutting grass and knew he wanted to do the same.
After pitching the idea to his family, Quentin’s business took off. With the help of his parents, Shirley and Quentin Hines Sr., he now has a booming lawn care business with clients coming from all directions. He even had the opportunity to visit the Carolina Panther’s grounds crew and help mow the Bank of America football field.
“This is one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. Actually being able to cut the Charlotte airport’s grass, which has always been my dream, just made me very happy,” Quentin told CBS News.
Despite his success, Quentin remains humble and has plans to recruit some of his fifth-grade friends to help provide lawn care locally. For now, you can find him out and about, mowing lawns with his noise cancellation headphones, sunglasses, and bandana to help with his allergies.
Quentin’s story is a true testament to following your passion and turning it into a successful business at a young age.
