Kanye West’s $53 Million Malibu Mansion Demolished for Bomb Shelter Transformation

In a shocking turn of events, Kanye West has demolished his $53 million beachfront mansion in Malibu, originally designed by renowned architect Tadao Ando, to transform it into a bomb shelter. The Yeezy mogul’s drastic renovations have reduced the value of the property by $14 million, leaving it a skeletal shell stripped of its original luxury features.

West’s vision for the mansion, which he purchased in September 2021, was to turn it into his own Batcave. However, despite the initial plans, the property was never transformed into the bomb shelter he envisioned. Instead, the mansion now stands as a stark reminder of the radical changes made by West and his team of laborers, including his wife Bianca Censori.

Laborer Saxon, who worked on the project, described the brutal conditions of the demolition, which included dismantling staircases, installing a foam slide, and painting over marble walls. The drastic alterations led to a confrontation between West and Saxon, with the laborer ultimately walking out of the project.

Despite West’s fascination with architecture and his meetings with prominent architects, the redesign and demolishment of the mansion have left the property virtually unrecognizable and significantly devalued. The mansion, which was initially listed at $53 million, has seen its price drop to $39 million, with expectations of further reductions.

The ongoing lawsuit between Saxon and West over unpaid wages, along with the property’s struggles to sell, including enlisting the help of Jason Oppenheim from “Selling Sunset,” have left the fate of the mansion uncertain. As the gutted remains of Ando’s design stand above the golden sands of Malibu, the once-iconic mansion now serves as a reminder of West’s unconventional approach to luxury real estate.
