Gabby Thomas: Olympian, Volunteer, and Future Healthcare Leader

Gabby Thomas, 27, is not your average Olympic athlete. While she may have just secured her spot in the 2024 Paris Olympics by winning the 200 meter dash at the U.S. Olympic trials, she is not solely focused on training and conditioning. In fact, Thomas is a force to be reckoned with both on and off the track.

A graduate of Harvard University with a degree in neurobiology and global health, Thomas went on to pursue a master’s degree in public health at the University of Texas. Despite her busy schedule as an elite athlete, Thomas still finds time to give back to her community by volunteering at a health care clinic in Austin.

Thomas’s dedication to both her athletic career and her passion for helping others is truly inspiring. She credits her work ethic to her mother, who worked tirelessly to pursue her own dreams of becoming a professor. Thomas sees her mother as a role model for going after what you want in life, no matter the obstacles in your way.

Looking towards the future, Thomas has big plans to make a difference in the world of healthcare. She hopes to run a hospital or create a nonprofit organization to address healthcare insecurity. But for now, she is focused on representing Team USA at the Paris Olympics and continuing to inspire others with her incredible story of perseverance and determination.

As Thomas heads to her second Olympic games, she remains humble and grateful for the support she has received. She knows that the job is not finished yet, and she is ready to continue making a difference both on and off the track.
