The City of New Orleans is set to honor Cash Money Records Co-Founders Bryan “Baby” Williams and Ronald “Slim” Williams by naming a street after them. The intersection of Saratoga St. and Erato St. will be christened “Honorary Williams Brothers Way” in recognition of the brothers’ lasting impact on New Orleans and the music industry.

National Urban League President & CEO Marc H. Morial expressed his pride in the street naming, highlighting the Williams brothers’ contributions to the music industry and their community. The official ceremony will take place on July 3 from 1:30 to 2:30 PM at the intersection where the Williams Brothers once lived.

The street naming ceremony will precede Birdman’s performance at the ESSENCE Festival, where he will headline with the show “Birdman and Friends.” The event will feature Cash Money Records hits and guest appearances, including a proclamation from Marc Morial recognizing the Williams brothers’ outstanding contributions to culture and hip-hop.

Cash Money Records recently received YouTube’s Leaders and Legends Award, honoring Birdman and Slim for their entrepreneurship and leadership in Black music and culture. The label, established in 1991, has signed major artists like Lil Wayne, Drake, and Nicki Minaj, achieving remarkable success with over 300 Hot 100 hits and 41 top 10 singles.

In response to the award, Birdman expressed his appreciation for the recognition and highlighted the artists who have contributed to Cash Money Records’ success. The accolade from YouTube underscores the Williams brothers’ significant impact on the music industry and their enduring legacy in popular culture.
