Mother in Hijab Attacked at Pool: Alleged Hate Crime Sparks Outrage and Calls for Justice

A horrifying incident at a pool in Texas has left a mother and her two young children traumatized and fearing for their safety. Mrs. H, a 32-year-old woman of Palestinian descent, was enjoying a day at the pool with her six-year-old son and three-year-old daughter when they were approached by a woman named Elizabeth Wolf.

According to reports from the Texas chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), Wolf, who was allegedly intoxicated, began interrogating Mrs. H about her country of origin and her use of a foreign language with her children. The situation quickly escalated when Wolf attempted to grab Mrs. H’s son, leaving him with a scratch on his hand. Wolf then grabbed the three-year-old daughter and held her head underwater.

Mrs. H was able to save her daughter with the help of a bystander, but the incident has left the family shaken. Wolf was arrested and initially released on bond, but after a review of the case, her bond was increased to over $1 million due to the severity of the charges and the need to protect the public.

Mrs. H, who is a U.S. citizen, expressed her fear and uncertainty following the attack, stating, “My country is facing a war, and we are facing that hate here.” CAIR has called for the incident to be investigated as a hate crime, citing a significant increase in hate-related complaints in recent months.

The traumatizing incident serves as a stark reminder of the impact of hate and discrimination, and the importance of standing up against such behavior in all its forms.
