Marc Jacobs’ Fashion Flair Extends to Nail Art: A Tribute to Black Women

Fashion designer Marc Jacobs is making headlines for more than just his runway designs these days. In a recent Instagram post, Jacobs showed off his acrylic nails and paid tribute to the Black women who inspired his creative nail art. From Flo-Jo to Lil Kim, Jacobs expressed his admiration and respect for the trailblazing women who paved the way.

The post quickly garnered over 63,000 likes and drew praise from fans and celebrities alike. Lil’ Kim even chimed in, calling Jacobs her “bestie” and complimenting his gorgeous nails. However, not everyone was focused on the fashion icon’s nail art. Some social media users had more practical questions, like how Jacobs manages with extra-long nails in everyday tasks.

In a recent interview with Vogue, Jacobs revealed that his love for beautiful nails dates back to his childhood, inspired by his mother and aunts who always kept their nails perfectly manicured. Nowadays, Jacobs entrusts his nail care to Yulenny Garcia, owner of Muñeca Nail Salon in The Bronx, who helps bring his unique sense of style to life with each manicure.

While Jacobs is passionate about his nail art, he has no plans to incorporate it into his runway shows. For him, the long nails are simply a form of self-expression and enjoyment. As he puts it, “I’m doing this for me—it’s a statement of self-expression. I’m just enjoying long nails, you know? Nothing more than that.” With his bold fashion choices extending beyond the runway, Jacobs continues to captivate audiences with his fearless creativity.
