After four long years of anticipation, Playboi Carti fans may finally get their hands on his highly awaited new album, thanks to producer Cardo shedding some light on the project.

In an interview with Lucid Monday filmed during SXSW earlier this year, Cardo revealed that he has been working on Carti’s new album for the past four years. Describing the creative process as “crazy” and “fun,” Cardo expressed his excitement about finishing up the project in Atlanta.

Tentatively titled I AM MUSIC, the album has been hyped up by Carti himself, who described it as “mindblowing” and his “very best.” The rapper kickstarted the album rollout earlier this year with singles like “2024” produced by Kanye West, “Backr00ms” featuring Travis Scott, and “H00dByAir.”

Despite the excitement surrounding the album, Carti has retreated from the spotlight recently, even canceling his Antagonist Tour. However, the 28-year-old artist still managed to achieve success this year with collaborations like “Carnival” with Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign, which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and “Type Shit” with Future, Metro Boomin, and Travis Scott, peaking at No. 2 on the chart.

With Cardo’s confirmation of the album’s progress, fans can only hope that Playboi Carti’s new album will finally see the light of day after years of anticipation.
