Essence Festival of Culture Celebrates 30 Years in New Orleans

The Essence Festival of Culture is set to kick off in New Orleans over the Fourth of July weekend, celebrating 30 years of entertainment, networking, and thought-provoking conversations. The festival brings together the best of Black culture, including policymakers, thought leaders, creatives, and musical talent, all with the underlying premise of purposeful partying.

Vice President Kamala Harris is scheduled to hold a conversation with Essence CEO Caroline Wanga during the Global Black Economic Forum, addressing a wide range of topics. The festival, which started as a celebration of Black womanhood, has evolved into a multi-generational event that aims to touch the entire Black family.

With a $327 million impact on the city of New Orleans, the Essence Festival has become a platform for Black businesses and entrepreneurs to thrive. The festival offers a variety of events, including the Black Global Economic Forum, a film festival, a wellness area, and a marketplace, providing opportunities for cultural entrepreneurs to grow and support one another.

The festival will feature performances by iconic artists such as Usher, Janet Jackson, and Frankie Beverly & Maze, as well as up-and-coming talents like Victoria Monét. Organizers aim to celebrate milestones and pass the torch to the next generation of cultural and musical pioneers.

With a mix of entertainment, networking, and celebration, the Essence Festival of Culture continues to be a must-attend event for those looking to engage with Black culture and make meaningful connections within the community.
