Controversial Remarks by Mark Robinson Spark Outrage and Concern

North Carolina Lt. Governor Mark Robinson is facing backlash after delivering a controversial speech at a southeast North Carolina church last month. Many are calling his remarks “incendiary” and “bizarre” after he endorsed violence, stating that “some folks need killing.”

During his 30-minute speech, Robinson shocked churchgoers by referencing the United States bombing of Japan in 1945 and Nazi Germany, saying, “No, they’re bad. Kill them.” He called for the “guys in green” and “boys in blue” to handle “wicked people doing wicked things” like torture, murder, and rape, while also criticizing Democrats for their response.

Robinson warned church members about the scrutiny from liberals, stating that they are “watching us” and can “cancel you” or “kick you off social media” if they disagree with you. The GOP nominee has a history of controversial statements, including calling for a complete ban on all abortions and making derogatory remarks about the LGBTQ community.

Despite the backlash, Lake Church Rev. Cameron McGill defended Robinson, stating that he did not imply the taking of innocent lives and only referred to those who pose a threat. A spokesperson for Robinson’s gubernatorial campaign clarified that his comments were only in reference to WWII enemies.

However, critics, including a representative for Attorney General Josh Stein’s gubernatorial campaign, have condemned Robinson’s rhetoric as divisive and dangerous. Robinson, who has been endorsed by former President Donald Trump, is set to face Stein in the November election for governor of North Carolina.
