The Racist Undertones of NY Post’s Kamala Article Referring to Her as ‘DEI President’

Controversial Op-Ed Claims Kamala Harris Could Be America’s First DEI President

The New York Post recently stirred controversy by publishing an op-ed by Fox Business senior correspondent Charles Gasparino titled “America may soon be subjected to the country’s first DEI president: Kamala Harris.” Gasparino’s piece perpetuated the racist belief that people of color are inferior to white people, sparking outrage and condemnation.

Gasparino claimed that diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs are “literally destroying businesses” and targeted Vice President Kamala Harris as a potential DEI president if she were to become the Democratic nominee. His remarks were echoed by Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas), who insinuated that Harris was a DEI hire during a Fox Business appearance.

In response, Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) slammed Roy’s comments as ignorant and defended Harris’s competency. Similarly, Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott faced attacks labeling him a “DEI Mayor” following a bridge collapse, to which he clarified that “DEI” stands for “duly-elected incumbent.”

Gasparino’s op-ed is seen as part of a larger conservative strategy to discredit people of color in positions of power. Despite Harris’s extensive experience as a district attorney, attorney general, and US senator, Gasparino’s attempt to undermine her achievements was deemed baseless.

As the November elections approach, the attacks on affirmative action and DEI initiatives are expected to intensify, further fueling the ongoing debate on racial equity and representation in politics.
