D.L. Hughley Criticizes George Clooney and Others for Urging Biden to Drop Out of Presidential Race
Comedian D.L. Hughley is not holding back when it comes to criticizing those who are calling for President Joe Biden to drop out of the upcoming presidential race. In a recent appearance on “TMZ Live,” Hughley took aim at actor George Clooney for his New York Times op-ed suggesting Biden should step aside.
Hughley called Clooney and other Democrats out for what he sees as a lack of strategic thinking. He pointed out that Clooney failed to mention Project 2025 in his article, a series of conservative proposals that could disproportionately harm people of color. Hughley labeled Clooney’s op-ed as “insulting” and criticized the actor for focusing on Biden’s age rather than the potential consequences of a Trump presidency.
Clooney argued in his essay that Biden’s age is a significant factor in his ability to win the election, claiming that other politicians share this sentiment privately. However, Hughley dismissed this perspective, emphasizing that defeating Trump should be the top priority for Democrats.
The comedian also slammed those calling for Biden to step down, labeling them as “cowards” and accusing them of “hand-wringing.” He emphasized that Biden’s path to victory as an incumbent would be easier than introducing a new Democratic nominee. Hughley even went as far as to say that if people are overlooking Trump’s criminal record, they might as well vote for a “cadaver” or a “crypt keeper.”
With tensions running high as the election approaches, Hughley’s sharp criticism adds fuel to the ongoing debate within the Democratic party.
