HBCU Sports Awards Nominees Announced: Howard University and Florida A&M Lead with Most Nominations
HBCU Sports announced its nominees for the inaugural HBCU Sports Awards on Sunday, revealing a star-studded list of contenders across various sports categories. With 45 categories honoring individual, team, and administrative achievements, the program aims to shine a spotlight on the outstanding talent within the HBCU athletics landscape.
Leading the pack with the most nominations are Howard University and Florida A&M, with 20 and 18 nods respectively. Jackson State and Norfolk State also received double-digit nominations, with 14 and 12 respectively.
Kenn Rashad, the Founding Editor and Publisher of HBCU Sports, expressed his gratitude to the staff and administrators who have worked tirelessly to make the event possible. He is optimistic that the virtual awards show, set to be streamed live on YouTube on July 27, will be a success.
The nominees include standout athletes from various sports such as soccer, volleyball, softball, baseball, bowling, football, basketball, cross country, golf, tennis, and track & field. Coaches, broadcasters, sports information directors, and conference officials are also recognized in different categories.
