    2024 Emmy Award Nominations Celebrate Black Talent in Lead Roles

    The 2024 Emmy Award nominations were announced on Wednesday morning, celebrating Black talent across various categories. The nominations were revealed by Emmy winner Sheryl Lee Ralph, actor Tony Hale, and Television Academy chair Cris Abrego at the El Capitan Theatre, with the ceremony also being streamed live.

    Among the notable nominees are Ayo Edebiri and Quinta Brunson for Outstanding Lead Actress in a comedy series for their roles in “The Bear” and “Abbott Elementary,” respectively. Additionally, Idris Elba and Donald Glover received nominations for Outstanding Lead Actor in a drama series for their performances in “Hijack” and “Mr. & Mrs. Smith.”

    “The Morning Show” stars Nicole Beharie and Karen Pittman both received nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a drama series, while “Abbott Elementary” co-stars Ralph, Janelle James, and Tyler James Williams were recognized for their outstanding supporting performances in the comedy series.

    Other notable nominees include Aja Naomi King, Lamorne Morris, and Da’Vine Joy Randolph, who received nominations for their performances in various series.

    “RuPaul’s Drag Race” continued its dominance at the Emmys, earning eight nominations, including Outstanding Reality Competition Program.

    The 2024 Emmy Awards will be broadcast live from L.A. Live Peacock Theatre on Sunday, Sept. 15, on ABC. The event promises to be a celebration of talent and excellence in television.
