Detroit Mother Pleads Guilty to Charges After Grim Discovery in Freezer

A Detroit mother of three has pleaded guilty to charges related to a horrifying incident that left even the police shocked. The Detroit Police Department made a grim discovery in her freezer that led to her arrest.

Authorities received an anonymous tip in June 2022 that led them to search the home of 33-year-old Azuradee France. Inside the freezer in the basement, they found the remains of a 3-year-old boy, identified as her son, Chayse. During questioning, France admitted to the crime, revealing a disturbing chain of events.

According to Detroit Police Chief James White, France confessed that she became frustrated with her blind son one evening in March 2022 when he refused to eat. She admitted to physically abusing him, which ultimately led to his death. Instead of seeking help, she decided to hide his body in a bag in the freezer to avoid losing her other children.

The Assistant Wayne County Medical Examiner determined that Chayse died from blunt force trauma to the head. France was arrested shortly after the discovery of her son’s body and has since pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. The other charges against her were dismissed as part of a plea agreement, and she now faces between 35 and 60 years in prison.

This tragic case has shocked the community and serves as a reminder of the importance of reporting child abuse and seeking help when needed. France’s sentencing will bring some closure to this heartbreaking story, but the memory of Chayse will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
