Andra Day, Mo’Nique, and Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor to Star in Lee Daniels’ New Film “Deliverance”

Andra Day, Mo’Nique, and Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor are set to star in the upcoming film “Deliverance,” directed by Lee Daniels. The drama, inspired by a true story, follows single mother Ebony Jackson (played by Day) as she moves her family into a new home for a fresh start after battling personal demons. However, strange occurrences in the house raise suspicions from Child Protective Services, leading to a battle for her family’s safety and souls.

In an interview with People, Day describes the film as a genre-bending thriller, horror, and family drama that also explores themes of faith. She expresses her excitement to work alongside Ellis-Taylor and Mo’Nique, praising their talent and dedication to their craft.

“Deliverance” marks the second collaboration between Day and Daniels, following her Oscar-nominated performance in “The United States vs. Billie Holiday.” Day credits Daniels for challenging her as an actress and bringing out nuanced performances.

The film also signifies a reconciliation between Daniels and Mo’Nique, ending a 13-year feud that began over promotional issues for “Precious.” Their renewed partnership led to the creation of “The Reading” and now “Deliverance.”

“Deliverance” will be released in select theaters on Aug. 16 and available for streaming on Netflix on Aug. 30. The trailer promises a gripping and intense story that will keep audiences on the edge of their seats.
