Kevin Abstract Set to Release Second Album “glue” Following Brockhampton Split
Former Brockhampton member Kevin Abstract is gearing up to release his second solo album, “glue,” following the group’s split in 2022. The latest single from the upcoming album, titled “BIG DOG,” showcases Abstract’s return to his roots as a rapper after experimenting with more pop-sounding music on his previous album, “Blanket.”
In “BIG DOG,” Abstract delves into a contemplative mood as he raps about the significance of a partner in his life, questioning whether they think about him as much as he thinks about them. The track features a piano-heavy beat that transitions into a bouncier instrumental, with production handled by Romil Hemnani and rising artist Quadeca, Popstar Benny, Mino, and Abstract himself. Additionally, uncredited vocals from Quadeca add depth to the song.
While a release date for “glue” has not been announced, fans anticipate its arrival before the end of 2024. The album is rumored to include a guest appearance from Ameer Vann, the former Brockhampton member who was removed from the group in 2018 due to sexual misconduct allegations. Despite their troubled history, Abstract recently hinted at a reconciliation with Vann by sharing his music on social media.
With singles like “Tennessee” featuring Lil Nas X setting the tone for “glue,” Abstract aims to blend elements of pop-rap and traditional hip-hop on the upcoming album. As fans eagerly await its release, Abstract’s introspective lyrics and innovative production on “BIG DOG” hint at a promising new chapter in his solo career.
