Teenage Brother of Slain Airman Killed in Atlanta Shooting

The Fortson family is once again facing tragedy as Andre Fortson, the 16-year-old brother of U.S. Air Force airman Roger Fortson, was shot and killed in the Atlanta area this week. This devastating news comes just three months after the fatal shooting of Roger Fortson by a Florida sheriff’s deputy.

Andre Fortson was found dead in the breezeway of an apartment complex in DeKalb County, where two groups of people were engaged in a shooting altercation. A 20-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and faces an aggravated assault charge.

The Fortson family, who has been represented by civil rights attorney Ben Crump since Roger Fortson’s death, is reeling from yet another loss. Crump expressed the family’s devastation, stating that losing another young family member has been incredibly challenging.

Roger Fortson, a Senior Airman stationed at Hurlburt Field in Florida, was tragically killed by a sheriff’s deputy in May. The deputy was fired for using deadly force in a situation where Fortson posed no threat. The Fortson family, originally from DeKalb County, has been vocal about seeking justice for Roger’s death.

At a tearful news conference following Roger’s killing, the Fortson family stood united, wearing shirts with the message “WE ALL WE GOT” in support of their lost loved one. Roger Fortson’s funeral outside Atlanta was attended by hundreds of Air Force members, honoring his service and sacrifice.

The Fortson family continues to mourn the loss of both Roger and Andre, as they navigate through this unimaginable tragedy. The community has come together to support the family during this difficult time, as they seek justice and closure for their loved ones.
