Major Donations Benefit Paul Quinn College and Dillard University: $20 Million Anonymous Gift and $19 Million EPA Grant
Two historically black colleges, Paul Quinn College and Dillard University, are set to benefit from major donations that will significantly impact their campuses and communities. Paul Quinn College received an anonymous donation of $20 million, which President Michael Sorrell described as a transformative gift that will enhance the university’s viability and sustainability. The donation will be used to upgrade the campus facilities and programs, with a focus on developing the banking and finance program to provide students with lucrative career opportunities.
Meanwhile, Dillard University was awarded a $19 million Community Change grant from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to support community and sustainability efforts in New Orleans. The grant will enable Dillard to create community resilience hubs, expand bike sharing and electric vehicle charger access, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and launch training programs in clean energy and climate resilience. Interim president Dr. Monique Guillory expressed gratitude for the EPA’s recognition of Dillard’s commitment to collaboration and community transformation.
Both donations highlight the importance of investing in historically black colleges and universities to empower students and communities. The generous contributions to Paul Quinn College and Dillard University will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on the institutions and the individuals they serve, showcasing the value of philanthropy and partnership in higher education.
