“The Bachelor” Announces Grant Ellis as Second-Ever Black Male Lead for Season 29

Grant Ellis, a 30-year-old day trader from Houston, has been announced as the newest star of ABC’s hit dating series, “The Bachelor.” Ellis, who was eliminated from the latest season of “The Bachelorette” right before the hometown dates, will be the second-ever Black male lead in the show’s history.

Described as a “self-proclaimed mama’s boy” with an infectious smile and unwavering positivity, Ellis is eager to embark on a journey filled with romance, adventure, and genuine connections. ABC announced the exciting news in a press release, highlighting Ellis’s passion for his career as a day trader and his love for the Lakers, bowling, and karaoke nights.

In a recent episode of “The Bachelorette,” Ellis expressed his desire for a wife and family after being eliminated by Jenn Tran. “I feel empty right now. Jenn’s a great woman. I expressed my love for her. I poured everything out and it wasn’t good enough,” Ellis said. “I want a family. I want to be happy. I want a wife. I want to be in love.”

“The Bachelor,” which first aired in 2002, has only had one other Black male lead, Matt James, who starred on season 25 in 2021. Ellis’ season of “The Bachelor” is set to air in 2025, and fans are excited to see him search for a partner who shares his values of loyalty, humor, and a deep appreciation for life’s simple pleasures.
