    Decatur to Host 2025 HBCUAC Softball Championship

    Decatur, Ala. is gearing up to make history as the host city for the 2025 HBCUAC Softball Championship. Decatur Morgan County Tourism (DMCT) has secured the bid to host the event, which is scheduled to take place from April 25-28. This will be a significant milestone for Decatur, as it will be the first time the city has hosted the HBCUAC Softball Championship.

    “We are thrilled and honored to host the HBCUAC Softball Tournament,” said Danielle Gibson, president and CEO of DMCT. “This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase our community and our passion for softball. We look forward to welcoming teams and fans for an unforgettable experience filled with competitive spirit and camaraderie.”

    Decatur is known for its strong support of collegiate athletics, and teams from Dillard University, Oakwood University, Rust College, Stillman College, Talladega College, and Voorhees University are set to compete in the championship.

    Don Dukemineer, director of sports development at DMCT, expressed his excitement about Decatur being chosen as the inaugural host of the HBCUAC Softball Championship. He emphasized the city’s commitment to providing a quality experience for the student-athletes both on and off the field.

    The partnership between DMCT and the HBCUAC has been growing, with Decatur recently hosting the conference’s Cross-Country Championship. The addition of the softball championship further solidifies this relationship.

    HBCUAC Commissioner Dr. Kiki Baker Barnes praised Decatur’s dedication to providing a top-notch experience for student-athletes and fans, expressing excitement for the upcoming championship.
