Man Sentenced to 143 Years for Pointing Gun at Burger King Worker and Shooting at Others
Aurora Man Sentenced to 143 Years for Burger King Drive-Thru Incident and Shooting Spree
Aurora, CO – Eugene Robertson, a 40-year-old man, has been sentenced to 143 years in prison for a series of crimes he committed in the Denver suburb of Aurora on October 17, 2022. The incident began when Robertson pointed a gun at a Burger King drive-thru worker who refused to accept drugs as payment. He then went on to shoot at other people elsewhere the same night, although thankfully, no one was injured.
Robertson was found guilty of 17 crimes, including eight counts of attempted murder, in April. The sentences for these crimes were stacked on top of each other, leading to the lengthy prison term. Prosecutors believe that the 143-year sentence is justice for the multiple victims who were put in fear that night.
After the drive-thru incident, Robertson entered a convenience store across the street and pointed a gun at a clerk’s head. When he noticed a surveillance camera, he shot at the screen and then fired towards two people in the parking lot before fleeing the scene. Later that night, he fired shots at a woman’s apartment after she refused to let him in, leading to his arrest by the police.
Witnesses at the convenience store reported that Robertson seemed “off” and was talking about God while carrying a Bible with a purple cover. The severity of his crimes was recognized by the jurors, leading to the lengthy sentence imposed by the judge.
Overall, the community is relieved that Robertson will be behind bars for a significant amount of time, ensuring the safety of others.
