Signs of Life for Delaware State Football Team After Trip to Hawai’i

The Delaware State football team may have faced a rocky start to their trip to Hawai’i, but their performance against the Rainbow Warriors has given fans hope for the upcoming season. Despite arriving late to Honolulu and facing travel woes, the Hornets put up a strong fight before ultimately falling 35-14.

One of the standout players of the game was quarterback Marqui Adams, who showed significant growth and maturity on the field. Adams, a redshirt sophomore, displayed poise and accuracy, completing 17 of 28 passes for 156 yards and adding 44 rushing yards and a touchdown. His performance against an FBS defense bodes well for the Hornets as they head into FCS/MEAC play.

The team also showed improvements on the defensive side of the ball, particularly in their run defense. After struggling in that area last season, the Hornets held the Rainbow Warriors to 128 rushing yards and two scores, a significant improvement from 2023.

With a healthier roster and a variety of offensive options, including standout performances from Jaden Sutton and Ryan Lee, the Hornets have reason to be optimistic about their chances this season. The team’s experience in Hawai’i, despite the travel setbacks, has helped them bond and come together as a unit.
