Amplified Presented by EY: WhyHunger’s 2nd Annual Concert Kick-Off for Hungerthon

WhyHunger, a non-profit organization dedicated to ending world hunger and the injustices that cause it, is gearing up for its 2nd annual concert kick-off event, Amplified Presented by EY. The event, set to take place at New York’s Irving Plaza on Tuesday, October 15, will feature a lineup of talented artists spanning various genres including funk, blues, hip hop, and soul.

Among the headliners for the event are iconic Grammy Award winners and The Roots, the house band for The Tonight Show. Also set to perform is guitar prodigy Grace Bowers and her band The Hodge Podge, with additional special guests to be announced.

Founded in 1975 by singer/songwriter Harry Chapin and radio DJ Bill Ayers, WhyHunger has a deep connection to music and its ability to drive social change. The organization has partnered with iHeartRadio as the Premier Audio Partner for Amplified, using the power of music to fuel the food justice movement.

Funds raised from the event will directly support WhyHunger’s efforts to end hunger and ensure access to nutritious food for all. The Roots expressed their support for the cause, stating, “It’s hard to think of a more worthy goal than helping people worldwide access food. We’re honored to join WhyHunger for a great night of music and proud to support the work they do.”

Grace Bowers also shared her excitement about supporting The Roots and WhyHunger, highlighting the opportunity to raise money and awareness for community-led solutions to food insecurity. WhyHunger’s Executive Director Jenique Jones emphasized the importance of the event in raising awareness of the organization’s mission to address the root causes of hunger and promote food justice worldwide.
