In one of her first public appearances promoting her memoir, “Lovely One,” Jackson showcased her love for musical theater by singing a few lines from “The Wiz” and a chant from “Schoolhouse Rock,” much to the delight of the audience.

    During a conversation with interviewer Gayle King, Jackson opened up about her personal journey, from her childhood in Miami to her groundbreaking appointment as the first Black woman on the Supreme Court. She shared anecdotes about her family, her education at Harvard University, and her interracial marriage to Dr. Patrick Jackson, who was present at the event.

    Jackson’s memoir, spanning 405 pages, weaves together family history, legal insights, and personal reflections, offering a roadmap for aspiring individuals from diverse backgrounds. Despite facing tough questions during her confirmation hearings and serving on a politically charged court, Jackson remains composed and focused on her mission to uphold justice.

She credited the White House for helping her navigate the confirmation process and build relationships with senators, ultimately leading to a successful outcome.
