Florida Men Arrested After Finding and Selling Deputy’s Lost Weapon
Two Florida men, Chance Byron and Damari Dennis, found themselves in hot water after stumbling upon a deputy’s lost weapon in a gas station restroom and attempting to sell it for a mere $40 on CashApp.
The bizarre incident unfolded at a RaceTrac in Oviedo, Fla., where a deputy inadvertently left his pistol behind in the restroom. Surveillance footage captured Byron and Dennis leaving the store with the stolen weapon, which was later recovered by authorities.
Byron confessed to taking the weapon and was charged with grand theft of a firearm, failure to report lost property, and dealing in stolen property. Dennis, a convicted felon with a history of flaunting guns on social media, faces 13 charges including grand larceny of a firearm and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
The duo’s reckless actions landed them in jail, with both set to appear in court on Oct. 8. The deputy, who realized his gun was missing after responding to a call, was fortunate to have his weapon safely returned.
