“Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art Presents KAWS: FAMILY Exhibition in March 2025”
Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art is set to showcase a major solo exhibition of work by KAWS in March 2025. Titled “KAWS: FAMILY,” the exhibition will feature a diverse range of the artist’s creations, including drawings, paintings, sculptures, altered advertisements, and product collaborations that delve into human emotions.
Known for creating iconic characters deeply rooted in American culture since the late 1990s, KAWS has established a unique artistic identity. The exhibition draws inspiration from the sculpture “FAMILY” (2021), which portrays four of KAWS’ characters in a family portrait style, highlighting the complex and heartfelt relationships between them.
Curator Alejo Benedetti describes KAWS’ work as a reflection of the world we know, with characters that resonate with popular culture while emphasizing human connections. This exhibition aims to introduce audiences to the artist’s captivating creations and encourage meaningful interactions with his character family.
Organized by the Art Gallery of Ontario, “KAWS: FAMILY” marks KAWS’ solo exhibition debut in Arkansas and will be tailored to fit Crystal Bridges’ exhibition gallery space. The showcase coincides with the museum’s ongoing expansion project, set to open in 2026, offering visitors new ways to engage with American stories and art installations.
“KAWS: FAMILY” will be on display at Crystal Bridges from March 15 to July 28, 2025, curated by Julian Cox. The exhibition is sponsored by General Mills, Hartman Family, and Paradigm Advisors, promising an immersive and emotionally resonant experience for art enthusiasts and visitors alike.
