2024 Presidential Election Cycle: Nothing Is Normal
The 2024 presidential election cycle has been anything but normal, with Democratic candidates dropping out and new ones entering the race. However, the strangest development has been the reported attempts on former President Donald Trump’s life.
The first attempt, where a young man allegedly took a shot at Trump but ended up killing another man, raised suspicions among some, including celebrities like Amanda Seales and D.L. Hughley, who suggested it may have been staged. Now, another reported attempt has occurred, with a middle-aged man named Ryan Wesley Routh allegedly pointing an AK-47 at Trump while he was playing golf.
Many Black individuals believe these incidents are being staged by Trump’s camp to garner support from his base. While there is no concrete evidence to support this claim, the history of real conspiracies against Black communities in the United States has fueled skepticism.
From the Tuskegee Syphilis Study to COINTELPRO targeting Civil Rights leaders, there is a long history of nefarious actions by the government. With Trump’s track record of dishonesty, some are wary of his involvement in any potential conspiracies.
As the country navigates through a tumultuous election cycle, it is important to rely on legitimate sources and authorities for information. The hope is that there are no more assassination attempts on anyone, as the current climate is already filled with enough uncertainty and violence.
