Morgan State Bears Defense Shines in Loss to Ohio University
The Morgan State Bears put up a valiant effort against the University of Ohio, but ultimately fell short in a 21-6 loss. Despite the defeat, the Bears defense shined, forcing four turnovers and limiting Ohio to a season-low 5.9 yards per play.
Defensive lineman Lance Byndon had a standout performance, recording five total tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss, and 2.0 sacks. The defense’s strong showing was a bright spot for Morgan State, as they look ahead to their home opener against Virginia University of Lynchburg with a 1-2 record on the season.
On the offensive side, the Bears struggled to capitalize on the turnovers forced by their defense. They were only able to convert one interception into points, settling for a field goal on a 33-yard drive. Despite getting into the red zone four times, the offense could only muster two field goals and had a third attempt blocked.
Morgan State’s offensive woes continued as they have only managed 161 rushing yards in their last two games after a strong showing in their season opener. The offense has scored fewer touchdowns (5) than the defense has forced turnovers (8) so far this season.
As the Bears look to bounce back from their loss to Ohio, they will need to find a way to capitalize on their defensive success and improve their offensive efficiency in order to secure a victory in their upcoming matchup.
