Exclusive Interview with Vice President Kamala Harris: Addressing Black Male Voters, Economic Policy, and International Relations

Vice President Kamala Harris made headlines during an exclusive interview hosted by NABJ and WHYY in Philadelphia, where she addressed a wide range of topics, including the role of Black male voters in the upcoming election. Harris emphasized the importance of earning the Black male vote and not assuming it based solely on her race.

While polls show that the majority of Black voters intend to choose Harris, there have been reports of more Black men supporting former President Donald Trump. Harris discussed her plans to expand tax deductions for entrepreneurs and highlighted the need to address economic obstacles that hinder wealth creation, particularly for Black men.

The Vice President also tackled questions about child care affordability, housing costs, and the conflict in Gaza. She emphasized the importance of reaching a hostage deal in Gaza and expressed support for Palestinians’ right to self-determination.

Harris condemned false and racist rumors spread by Trump and his allies about Haitian immigrants, calling it a “crying shame” and stressing the responsibility of leaders to use their words wisely. In contrast to past combative interviews, Harris closed the conversation by thanking NABJ and the interviewers for the opportunity.

The interview provided insight into Harris’s policy priorities and approach to key issues facing the country, showcasing her commitment to addressing economic disparities, supporting marginalized communities, and promoting responsible leadership.
