Top Matchups in Week 4 of the HBCU Football Season: Former MEAC Teams, CIAA Contests, and Historic SWAC Programs Clash

In Week 4 of the HBCU football season, former MEAC teams are set to reignite historic rivalries as they dip their feet back in conference waters. Additionally, a pair of CIAA contests that could impact the championship race are scheduled, along with a matchup between two historic SWAC programs meeting for the first time in two years.

One of the highly anticipated games to watch is the showdown between Winston-Salem State and Virginia State. Virginia State, coming off an idle week, will face Winston-Salem State in their conference opener. The Rams have started the season strong with a 2-0 record against Division II competition, making this game a great test for both teams.

Another exciting matchup is the 99th annual Battle of the Real HU between Hampton and Howard. Hampton has dominated this series in recent years, claiming seven straight victories over Howard. Despite the historical dominance, this game is always thrilling and promises to be no different this year.

In Charlotte, Virginia Union will take on Johnson C. Smith in a game that could further shape the CIAA championship race. Johnson C. Smith is off to a hot start with a 3-0 record, but they will face a tough challenge against the reigning CIAA champion Virginia Union Panthers.

The Aggie-Eagle Classic between North Carolina A&T and North Carolina Central is another game to keep an eye on. The Eagles have won two straight over the Aggies and are aiming for a third consecutive victory for the first time since 2016.

Lastly, the matchup between Jackson State and Grambling State will feature two of the most historic programs in HBCU football. Both teams are coming off wins and are more evenly matched than in their last meeting in 2022, setting the stage for an exciting and competitive game.
