    SWAC Announces 2024-25 Men’s Basketball Predicted Order of Finish and Preseason Awards

    Grambling State has been named the favorite in the Southwestern Athletic Conference’s 2024-25 Men’s Basketball Predicted Order of Finish. The Tigers, led by Preseason Player of the Year Kintavious Dozier, are looking to build on their success from last season when they captured the SWAC Tournament title and made a trip to the NCAA Tournament.

    Dozier, who averaged 13.0 points per game last season, will be a key player for Grambling State as they aim to defend their conference title. Texas Southern’s Kenny Hunter was named Preseason Defensive Player of the Year, adding another layer of excitement to the upcoming season.

    The preseason poll also highlighted other top contenders in the conference, with Texas Southern, Southern, Jackson State, and Alcorn State rounding out the top five selections. Alabama State, Prairie View A&M, Bethune-Cookman, Alabama A&M, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Florida A&M, and Mississippi Valley State were also ranked in the preseason poll.

    The All-SWAC First Team features standout players like T.J. Madlock from Alabama State, Tidjiane Dioumassi from Southern, Shannon Grant from Jackson State, and Chad Moodie from Alabama A&M. The Second Team includes players like Grayson Carter and Kenny Hunter from Texas Southern, C.J. Hines from Alabama State, Ubong Okon from Alabama A&M, and Lorenzo Downey from Alabama A&M.

    With the stage set for an exciting season of SWAC Men’s Basketball, fans can look forward to intense competition and thrilling matchups as these talented teams battle it out on the court.
