Nicki Minaj Throws Shade at Atlantic Records Layoffs and Cardi B
Nicki Minaj has once again proven that she is the queen of pettiness in the music industry. The rapper took to social media to mock the recent layoffs at Atlantic Records, where her longtime rival Cardi B is signed, along with several other artists.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Minaj didn’t hold back, writing, “Dear fired executives & A&Rs: Don’t be mad, UPS is hiring,” while also promoting her own record label, Heavy On It. She didn’t stop there, adding, “They’ve been wanting empty arenas so bad. Obsessed with me while all your friends are getting fired is nasty work.”
These comments came shortly after the announcement of significant layoffs at Atlantic Records and its sister label 300 Elektra, as part of a larger restructuring effort across the music industry. Warner Music Group, Atlantic’s parent company, had already seen the departure of high-ranking executives.
In an internal memo, Atlantic Music Group CEO Robert Kyncl addressed the layoffs, expressing gratitude for the departing staff and acknowledging their contributions to the company and the artists they championed. Key executives from 300 Elektra were also impacted by the restructuring.
With petty season in full swing, it seems like Nicki Minaj is not holding back when it comes to throwing shade at her rivals. The music industry is always full of drama, and this latest episode is just another example of the ongoing feuds and controversies that keep fans entertained.
