Chingy Backs Out of Republican Event After Social Media Backlash

Over the weekend, the lineup for the upcoming Red White & Rock concert in Nashville, Tenn. caused quite a stir when an unexpected figure was included on the promotional poster. Rapper Chingy, known for hits like “Right Thurr,” was listed alongside Donald Trump Jr. and Kimberley Guilfoyle as one of the musical acts scheduled to perform at the Republican LGBT event.

The announcement led to backlash on social media, with many questioning Chingy’s decision to participate in the event. Some even went as far as to mock him for allegedly doing it for a paycheck. However, the St. Louis rapper quickly responded to the criticism in the comments section of Baller Alert’s Instagram post about the event.

Chingy defended his decision to perform, stating, “MY JOB IS TO PERFORM AND I GET PAID TO PERFORM, NOT CAURR ABOUT POLITICS.” He also addressed rumors about his financial status, revealing that he had recently purchased a $500k house.

Despite his initial response, Chingy ultimately decided to back out of the Republican event due to the social media backlash. In another comment on Instagram, he clarified, “I HAVE DECLINED PERFORMING AND NO IM MOT A TRUMP SUPPORTER NOR SUPPORTER OF ANYONE ELSE BUT CHINGY.”

It seems that Chingy did not want to face the same criticism that other Black artists, like Chrisette Michele, received after performing at events associated with former president Donald Trump. By withdrawing from the concert, Chingy has made it clear that he values his integrity and artistic independence above all else.
