Jury Selected for Case Against Young Dolph’s Alleged Killers in Memphis

The trial for the alleged killers of beloved rapper Young Dolph is set to begin in Memphis, Tennessee, with a jury selected from outside Shelby County to ensure a fair trial. Justin Johnson, Cornelius Smith Jr., and Hernandez Govan are facing charges related to Dolph’s 2021 shooting death.

The trial, which has faced several delays, was originally set to start in March but has been pushed back multiple times due to various motions and requests from both the prosecution and defense. Judge Jennifer Mitchell expressed her frustration with the delays but granted the continuance to allow time for witnesses to be prepared.

Dolph, whose real name is Adolph Thornton Jr., was tragically killed in November 2021 when two men fired shots into a bakery in Memphis. In addition to the three men standing trial for his murder, Jemarcus Johnson has pleaded guilty to serving as an accessory after the killing.

Dolph’s partner at the time of his death, Mia Jaye, has expressed her frustration with the length of time the case has taken to come to trial. She has been vocal about feeling disregarded by the legal system and the lack of communication from authorities.

As the trial finally gets underway, Dolph’s loved ones are one step closer to seeing justice served for the talented rapper whose life was cut short in a senseless act of violence. The community in Memphis and fans around the world are watching closely as the legal proceedings unfold.
