Young Dolph Murder Trial Begins with Prosecutor Alleging Yo Gotti’s Brother Put $100K Hit on Slain Rapper

The murder trial of rapper Young Dolph took a shocking turn as the prosecutor revealed a conspiracy involving Yo Gotti’s late brother during opening statements. Justin “Straight Drop” Johnson, one of the suspects in Dolph’s killing, was put on trial and the prosecutor claimed that Yo Gotti’s brother, Anthony “Big Jook” Mims, had put a $100,000 hit on Dolph.

According to Shelby County Assistant District Attorney Paul Hagerman, both Johnson and Cornelius Smith, the other alleged gunman, met with Big Jook before the killing. Hagerman stated that Big Jook, who was the number two guy at Yo Gotti’s label CMG, orchestrated the hit to eliminate Dolph. Johnson, an aspiring rapper, allegedly wanted the money to further his music career.

The tensions between Young Dolph and Yo Gotti date back to 2016, with previous incidents involving associates of Gotti. Big Jook himself was shot and killed earlier this year in what authorities believed was a targeted attack.

The trial jury consists of individuals from outside Shelby County, Tennessee, due to the extensive media coverage of Dolph’s shooting in Memphis. Johnson and Smith are facing first-degree murder charges, while a third suspect, Hernandez Govan, is accused of ordering the hit on the 36-year-old rapper.

Young Dolph was tragically killed in November 2021 when two men opened fire on a bakery in Memphis, with the incident captured on CCTV. Jemarcus Johnson has already pleaded guilty to being an accessory after the killing.

The trial promises to be a high-profile case with the shocking revelations surrounding the conspiracy behind Young Dolph’s murder.
