Travis Scott’s “Days Before Rodeo” Hits Number 1 on Billboard 200, Breaks Vinyl Sales Record
Travis Scott has once again proven his chart-topping prowess as his mixtape Days Before Rodeo has soared to number one on the Billboard 200, making history in the process.
Initially debuting at number two with over 360,000 equivalent units, the project experienced a significant drop down to number 106 before making a remarkable comeback to claim the top spot. The surge in sales can be attributed largely to vinyl sales, with Days Before Rodeo earning 156,000 equivalent units in its fourth week, 149,000 of which came from vinyl sales exclusively through Scott’s website.
This achievement marks the biggest sales week for a rap album on vinyl and the sixth largest across all genres since tracking began in 1991. Scott had previously held the record within Hip Hop with his album Utopia, which sold 93,000 vinyl copies in a single week.
Days Before Rodeo also marks Scott’s fourth number one on the Billboard 200, solidifying his status as a chart-topping artist. Despite initial objections to the project’s debut chart position, Scott and his team ultimately celebrated this historic achievement.
In addition to his chart success, Scott has also surpassed Kanye West on the list of most streamed rappers in the world, quickly closing in on Eminem. With a whopping 49 billion streams on Spotify, Scott now ranks as the third most-streamed rapper, trailing behind Eminem and Drake.
As fans eagerly anticipate new music from Scott, the rapper has teased that his upcoming album will be inspired by his ongoing Circus Maximus Tour, promising more chart-topping hits in the future.
