Experience Prince’s Legacy at the Iconic “Purple Rain” Home with Limited-Time Airbnb Rentals

Prince fans will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the late icon’s world with a limited-time Airbnb rental in his hometown of Minneapolis. The white, two-story home featured in the film “Purple Rain” will be available for up to 100 fans to stay and experience Prince’s cultural legacy firsthand.

Inside the unassuming exterior of the home, guests will find a treasure trove of iconic outfits worn by Prince, displayed behind glass in a big closet with paisley wallpaper and leopard-spotted floor. Visitors can even try on some of the ’80s outfits and channel their inner rock star.

Priced at just $7 a night per person for up to four guests, the rentals are a nod to Prince’s favorite number and will be available for 25 nightly stays over seven weeks from Oct. 26 to Dec. 14. The Airbnb rentals coincide with the 40th anniversary of the movie “Purple Rain,” which catapulted Prince to superstardom with hits like the title track, “Let’s Go Crazy,” and “When Doves Cry.”

Hosted by Prince’s longtime friends and musical collaborators Lisa Coleman and Wendy Melvoin, the Airbnb experience includes a replica of The Kid’s bedroom from the film in the basement, complete with lavender pillows and a 1980s style cassette player. Guests can also enjoy a lounge area with musical instruments and QR codes linking to commentary from the hosts.

For fans eager to book a stay, reservations open on Oct. 2 and will be chosen at random based on responses to why they want to stay in the iconic home. With plenty of purple decor and a tribute to Prince’s enduring influence, this Airbnb rental offers a unique opportunity for fans to celebrate the legendary musician’s legacy.
