“Jonathan Majors’ ‘Magazine Dreams’ Acquired for Theatrical Release After Controversy”

The Jonathan Majors-starring bodybuilder drama “Magazine Dreams” is making a comeback after being dropped due to the actor’s legal troubles. Briarcliff Entertainment has acquired distribution rights to the film and is planning a theatrical release in the first quarter of 2025.

Originally a critical hit at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2023, “Magazine Dreams” had high expectations for awards season before Jonathan Majors’ conviction for assaulting his ex-girlfriend. The incident led to his arrest in March 2023, and despite maintaining his innocence, Majors was found guilty in December of assault and harassment charges.

The fallout from the conviction was swift, with Marvel Studios dropping Majors from a key role in their upcoming projects. Searchlight Pictures, also owned by Disney, returned distribution rights to “Magazine Dreams” to the producers. Majors was ordered to complete a counseling program but avoided jail time.

In the film, directed by Elijah Bynum, Majors plays a troubled aspiring bodybuilder with a history of anger issues. Briarcliff Entertainment, known for distributing controversial films like the upcoming Donald Trump dramatization “The Apprentice,” is now giving “Magazine Dreams” a second chance at the box office.

Fans and critics alike will be watching to see if Jonathan Majors can make a successful comeback on the big screen after his legal troubles. Stay tuned for more updates on the release of “Magazine Dreams” and the future of Jonathan Majors’ career.
